Bishop W.C. Martin

For more than 20 years, Bishop W. C. Martin has served the community of Possum Trot, Texas as pastor of Bennett Chapel. In this tiny Texas town, Bishop W.C. and Donna Martin adopted four children who were in foster care. Their sacrifice triggered an avalanche of love that touched more than 70 children in need of an adoptive family. This miraculous adventure has become one of the premier adoption stories in America. Bishop Martin and Donna have appeared on such programs as “Oprah,” “Dateline NBC,” and “Good Morning America” to tell this miraculous story. Martin’s vision for the church in America is to encourage Christians to care for orphans so that no child will be left without a loving home.

About the Wichita Prayer Breakfast

The Wichita Prayer Breakfast first began in 1963. The purpose of the Prayer Breakfast is to glorify God, to encourage regular prayer for our city and its leaders and to create fellowship as a community of friends in the name of Jesus, who breaks down all barriers and brings reconciliation.

About the National Prayer Breakfast

Historically, our nation has turned to Almighty God for strength and guidance. In this spirit, breakfast groups from the United States Senate and the House of Representatives who meet to deepen friendships, pray and counsel together inaugurated the National Prayer Breakfast to specifically seek the Lord’s guidance and strength, as well as reaffirming our faith and renewing the dedication of our nation and ourselves to God and his purposes.

This annual gathering in the nation’s capital seeks to encourage men and women throughout the United States and the world to recognize their privileges and responsibilities before God — and to pray for leaders in all countries, that wisdom may guide their actions and decisions.

As a natural outgrowth of such gatherings, many people throughout the world are finding a fellowship through Jesus Christ, which is helping to build true community in the family of nations.
